DON'T DROP THE POTATO

Lache pas la patate (Losh pa la pa tot) - Don't drop the potato

This work does not attempt to summarize a place (southwestern Louisiana). Instead it functions as an intimate record of small, often marginal, struggles for presence. The Cajuns were forced exiles from the mountains of France and then the Acadia region of Canada. They ended up in the swamps and prairies of southwestern Louisiana. These images represent a love for a place that has not always returned that love.  The bayou, my bayou is filled with venomous snakes, murdered dogs, hurricane debris, tug boats passing me by, the relationships that have dissolved and the way a place can simultaneously hold one down and lift one up.
